3 Ways to Make Better Choices

This past weekend I was asked to speak at a Stop the Violence event in Worcester. I was also able to host a vendor table for my nonprofit, Just Wanna Live Right, Inc. so grateful for the opportunity, for the fellowship and to be a part of the great work of the Worcester Caribbean American Carnival Association as they help to bring positive events to their communities.

I wanted to share what God gave me to speak about at this event.

****************************************************************************

WE ALL AT SOME POINT IN OUR LIVES COME TO A MOMENT WHEN WE SAY….

I JUST WANNA LIVE RIGHT

I just want to make better choices

I just want to handle my finances better

I want good loving relationships

I want a better job

I JUST WANNA LIVE RIGHT…..

And ALL of that means – you want CHANGE – good change.  But the awesome thing in that is,  you CAN. You absolutely can have good change in your life.  Some of us think we can only play the cards we’ve been dealt.  This is what life gave me and I just have to deal with it. – NOT TRUE – you can make change, positive change in your life.

And the more work you put in to make that good change…the better your situations will get.

I want to share a few points with you in hopes that something stays/sticks with you.

Here are 3 thoughts to help you make better choices and decisions.

1.   (ask yourself)   – HOW WILL IT AFFECT ME & THE PEOPLE I CARE ABOUT

What I’m about to do, this choice I’m about to make.…will it:

Hurt me? – if the answer is yes, don’t do it.  You CAN say no

Put me in trouble or jail – you don’t want that to happen.  that doesn’t have to be a choice.  You have other options…positive options.

Hurt or disappoint those I care about – be concerned about others, don’t do anything that would take you away from them. We were created to love and be concerned about each other.  It’s one of the great commandments from God.  “Love your neighbor as you would love yourself.” Love those you care about by making good choices that we later keep you here with them.

2.   KNOW WHAT’S RIGHT AND WHAT’S WRONG FOR YOU

Know what’s RIGHT for your life and what’s WRONG for your life

Get alone with yourself.  We live a world where nothing gets turned off.  Our minds don’t shut down.  We even have our phones set so we can hear them at anytime, but make some time to be alone – no TV, phone,  computer, tablet, cell phone, no company – and asses your life.  Look the things your involved in and the things going around you in your immediate space.

What’s right for your life:   school/education – job – happiness – stability

What’s wrong for your life:  crime – fast money/hustle – anger – bad friends – laziness

NOW…..CHOOSE WHAT’S RIGHT – no matter how hard it may be to choose right, it’s always worth it.

3.   KNOW WHEN TO MAKE CHANGE

Be able to see when your current situation is no longer working for you anymore.

Repeated mistakes – bad choices

Be able to identify when you need to make changes in your life

The people around you

Relationships

You’re not going to get new results from the same bad choices

Everyone’s life is different – separate paths. We all have our own individual situations, some are easy to fix and some are going to take a bit more time for change to happen and that’s ok. Stick with it.

But you have to make the 1st step towards change.

Positive change = positive results

Start today

A new day is another chance to make change in your life.

Have the courage to take the 1st step, knowing that when you do….you will have ALL OF HEAVEN backing you up!

Stay encouraged and God Bless

Ms. Taz
