How not to make excuses for bad choices…

2 Peter 1:3-11

The love of our God, the salvation given to us through Jesus Christ and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit are all we need to live a Godly life, a Holy life, a life that God is pleased with. That is it.  Nothing more…nothing less.  This is how we know that the way God desires us to live is attainable, meaning we CAN do it.  So there goes that excuse we sometimes say  ‘well we are only human’ LOL as if to excuse our sins and our intended

disobedience. Nope, you have been given everything you need to live a Holy life. Sometimes the problem is we don’t want to utilize what we’ve been given because we don’t want to sacrifice, say NO to our fleshy desires.

I love that as a Believer I am able to partake of the divine nature of God. That I have direct access to the things that will make me into that new image…the things that will transform me.

If I apply and work towards…

Virtue (Christ’s character)

Knowledge (practical wisdom)

Self-Control (master one’s emotions rather than being controlled by them)

Perseverance (exercising the self- control so as not to be easily given to quit)

Godliness (to be continuously aware of God’s presence)

Love (God kind of love that is concerned for others)

These qualities will assure productivity in our lives. Include these qualities in with your faith, be actively involved with your Christian growth. We are responsible to become spiritually mature. Not to stay as babes in the faith by to grow and go to higher heights in God. But your diligent effort is needed in order for your growth to happen.

Those who are not persistent and constantly trying to seek after and grow in spiritual qualities, Paul calls them blind or nearsighted.

Standing before God with our true character revealed.

In verse 10 – 11, Peter distinguishes between a ‘just-barely-made-it entrance into the eternal kingdom and a richly abundant one. Fruitful and faithful living on earth will be rewarded by greater privileges and rewards in glory. You will stand before God with your true character revealed. 2 Corinthians 5:10 says –For we must all stand before Christ to be judged. We will each receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we have done in this earthly body. Christ’s rewards are meant to provide a powerful incentive for an obedient life.

It’s a privilege to know that God wants us to live like Him….Holy. And it’s encouraging to know that we CAN. Something I stress on this page is making the effort towards positive change. You can do this…if you want it. We are here to help you…if you want it.

We have all that we need to live a Godly life, a Holy life, a life that God is pleased with.
