I’m talking to the believers…those who have accepted Jesus Christ by Faith.
2 Corinthians 5:17 says therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are past away, behold all things are become new. The believer becomes a new person…
You are renewed to take the image of Christ, a new knowledge, a new understanding and a new living in a life of holiness.
Renewed means = to revive, to make effective for an additional period, to begin.
In all of this…change is happening. Things you used to do, you don’t do anymore. Things you used to say, you don’t say them anymore. The evidence of Christ in your life is seen by the changes you have made and are making. And this transformation is not an overnight thing…but a process. If you stay faithful, God will help you to make the changes…you do not have to do them on your own.
In my walk I’m learning that with this acceptance comes a responsibility. I now represent Christ. My actions, my behavior, my language must represent Christ. I must be very careful that I do not confuse people who are watching me. Because in all honesty…when you get Saved…people watch you…waiting for you to slip up LOL they look for some kind of fault. So, I am sending a reminder that as a believer we must be watchful and careful how we act, think and move. It comes with the walk. I’m ok with it…I understand it. I’m not mad at it. I want people to see Christ in me. I don’t want someone who is a babe in Christ to be confused by my behavior. I don’t want someone who may not even know Christ to be confused about who God is because of my actions.
By their fruit you will recognize them. So I need to constantly self-examine and ask myself…How is your fruit? What is your fruit? Are people in the world seeing Christ in you? When you are in the world do you act like the world? Do you talk like the world? Are you a new creature? Or are you still the old things? I will be confusing those watching me if I am showing them that they can serve God and still do things of the world, the old things?
Again, please know that I don’t post to judge you; I share because I love you!
Though we must refrain from judging each other in trivial matters, believers should consider how to encourage each other to true christlikeness and holiness when it concerns faith, doctrine and morals.
