That’s an old time saying, right? Many of us stilll use it today. Becareful of the things you say or repeat that you may not really know the meaning of.
But when you say…God knows my heart what are you referring to? “I know I need to stop doing this, but God knows my heart” “I need to get my life together, but God knows my heart” “I know I gotta stop smoking, but I just want another one, God knows my heart” “I’m just gonna sin one more time, God knows my… heart”
Let me show you something…
We use this phrase as an excuse to keep sinning. Be honest with yourself…do you say this when you are contemplating or actually doing something you really shouldn’t?
Let me ask this…whatever THAT is…
Can you physically stop doing it?
Will it kill you if you stop?
Will your family be in danger if you stop?
Will you loose money if you stop?
Will your life fall apart if you stop?
I’m just trying to give you another way to look at your situations, your decisions, and your actions.
So if we are being honest…God DOES know your heart…He knows your making the choice to sin. Deliberate sin.
Deliberate sin = Deliberate Disobedience If you know better, you are deliberately showing God that you don’t care for His commands
You can’t keep deceiving yourself into thinking that He knows you wanna do better…no actually He knows you won’t do better.
“The heart is hopelessly dark and deceitful, a puzzle that no one can figure out. But I, GOD, search the heart and examine the mind.
I get to the heart of the human. I get to the root of things. I treat them as they really are, not as they pretend to be.”
Matthew Henry commentary states:
“When men say in their hearts there is no God or God does not see or He will not require or they shall have peace though they go on in these and a thousand similar suggestions…the heart is deceitful.
The devils job is to be deceptive! Dont let him deceive you into thinking that your wrong is right. The heart is the conscience of the man – it calls evil good and good evil. It cheats men/women into their own ruin.
So when you say “God knows my heart” what are you excusing? Stop yourself…find the root of it and deal with it. Make a choice to live right or choose to keep sinning.
