I realized something yesterday…when you are aggitated, irked, aggrivated, have an attitude, in a bad mood or just feeling renk….you don’t want to be nice to people.
But that is NOT a nice place to be.
And everything about your actions is mean. I do believe there are some people who live day and night like this…I feel for you, because again, that is NOT a nice place to be. We can easily slide into this feeling when the kids get on our nerves, significant other gets on our nerves, the boss, a friend, an enemy, a frenemy, and YOU can even get on your own nerves!
I’m sharing this because I want you to be able to identify when you are in this mood or when it is trying to consume you….so you can pull yourself out of it. Anything that is NOT love, joy, peace, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle or self-controlled….is of the devil. Do not allow this feeling to get comfortable on YOU.
Do what you must to remove it. James 4:7 says ~ Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
Whatever you know about God…right then while your in that mood…call on it! The best way is to grab your bible and start reading it. But if you don’t have one with you, maybe a church song that you know, a bible verse you’ve memorized, repeat “Jesus” over and over….whatever it is, do it until that feeling of aggrivation goes away.
Philippians 4:7 says ~ and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
The enemy attacks our mind. This is how he deceives us to believe that some things are ok and just supposed to be. In this particular instance, he has you believing that your supposed to be angry and hold on to the aggitated feeling. Let me say this…that aggitated feelilng does not feel good. It can make you feel sick in your stomach, it can make you get headaches, it can make your blood pressure rise and your heart beat faster. There is nothing good about it. Feels almost like there is a war going on in your physical & mental body. But the peace of God will guard your heart and your mind.
Nelson’s commentary describes this verse saying “Since the purpose of such a guard in a wartime situation is either to prevent a hostile invasion or to keep the inhabitants of a besieged city from escaping, the peace of God operates in the same way; to protect the mind from external corrupting influences and to keep the mind focused on God’s truth.”
Know when the enemy is trying to use you. And tell him NO!
