More of Him and less of me…

I was thinking the other morning about how I’ve gotten so much better at reading my Bible on a regular basis. There was a time when I just couldn”t make the time. There was always something else to do or get done. My heart desired to be obedient and learn his Word after getting Saved but something was always coming up. But just like with anything you want badly…you will make a way for it. I began to include this desire in my prayers. Asking God to help me make time, help me to be motivated enough to push myself to make it happen. Then I started doing things to make it easier for me to read my Word. I brought a small Bible to carry in my bag everyday. Took a bible from home and kept it on my desk at work. Put a Bible app on my cellphone. The whole time I’m still praying and asking God to give me the determination to want to read his Word, want to spend time learning the way he wants me to live. I do believe if you have the desire in your heart and you begin to work towards the will of God…he will help to make the way easier so that you can be obedient to his way. Once you start reading the bible (a Bible you can understand) you wont’ want to stop! There is so much great learning in the bible!

God knows us very well! And he knows that there are some aspects in our life that we are going to need a lil bit more help in it than in other parts of our life. Those weaknesses can be turned into strengths if we just ask God to help us. Invite him into your situations…no matter how small or petty you think it is.

Hebrews 4:16 says
~ let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need..

Another version of that scripture reads
~ Now that we know what we have—Jesus, this great High Priest with ready access to God—let’s not let it slip through our fingers. We don’t have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He’s been through weakness and testing, experienced it all—all but the sin. So let’s walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help.

Lord if there is anyone who needs help in being faithful and obedient to you…see their heart God, help them to cry out to you boldly. You want us to succeed but you also need us to make the effort to seek you out God. Lord I pray that someone today wants to try harder, wants to be committed and wants to be successful in their walk with you. Place good God-fearing people in our lives God so that we may use them to stay on course, stay focused and do your will. In Jesus name I pray, Amen
